Bhubaneswar: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Tuesday released a detailed annual Ratha Yatra schedule of the Lord Jagannath and his siblings.
As per the programme, the deities were in sickroom (Anasar Ghar) in the temple complex since the Snan Purnima grand bathing ceremony. They were supposedly suffering from fever and were being treated by the temple physician who administered them every day herbal medicines.
The deities would regain their youth after recovery from the sickness and would appear for public view on the Nabajouban day, which falls prior to the Ratha Yatra scheduled for June 25. This is also called Netrotshav. A set of special bhogs would be offered to the deities before they were placed for public darshan.
On the Ratha Yatra (Sunday) morning, festival nitees starting from Mangal Aarati, Mailam, Tadap Laagi, Rosha Homa, Surya Puja, Abakash to Gopal Bhog (Khechudi) would be performed.
In front of the temple gate, the priests would consecrate the three Raths. After Mangalarpan, the Daita servitors would conduct the deities one after another in ceremonial Pahandi to their respective Raths by 9.30 am which would be completed by 12.30 pm. Chherapahanra by the Puri King would be performed from 1.30 to 2.30 pm. And the pulling of the chariots would be done by 3.30 pm.
