Rape, blackmail slur: Bhadrak jailor transferred
Bhadrak: A jailor of Bhadrak district, who was booked for allegedly blackmailing and torturing an engineering girl, was transferred to M Rampur sub-jail in Kalahandi district on Wednesday.
The transfer of the accused jailor, Chinmaya Patra, came after another married woman from Barbil area in Keonjhar district today lodged a complaint with Mahila police alleging him of raping her several times.
In her complaint, the woman said the accused befriended her and insisted to keep friendship with him after her phone was mistakenly connected to him. He then forcefully kept physical relation with her. On the basis of the two allegations, DIG (prison) conducted a probe into the matter.
Earlier, a case was registered against Patra at Bhadrak Town police station under Sections 498A, 494, 495, 406, 417, and 506 of IPC after the victim, a B. Tech student, alleged that the accused blackmailed her with their intimate videos.
According to the plaint, Patra had befriended the girl, hailing from Kendrapara, on Facebook a year ago when she was studying in a private engineering college in Balasore. Later, they married at a temple in Khiching of Mayurbhanj district and started staying at Patra’s government quarters. During the period, the accused recorded moments of their intimacy on his mobile phone.
But when the victim learnt that Patra was already married and has two children, she opposed it. The accused then threatened her not to disclose the matter to anyone and started blackmailing her with the videos clip of their private moments, the complaint had stated.
