Bhubaneswar: In the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Odisha and Rajasthan, Govind Poddar led team yet again put up a disappointing performance as the batting didn’t click on a sporting Dhruv Pandove stadium Patiala. In reply to Rajasthan’s 323 in first innings, the Odisha team bundled up for a paltry 172 in their first innings and were asked to follow on.
Odisha that had already lost 8 wickets on second day of the game were waiting for a miracle on the third day. Only all-rounder Deepak Behera could provide some resistance to Rajasthan bowlers and scored a valiant half century. His 67 run that included 8 fours and 2 sixes helped the team survive being already 6 down at 66 go so far.
However, after following on, Odisha started in an attacking manner with the openers smashing the bowlers to all sides of the ground and smashed 61 runs within 9 over before Sandeep Pattnaik, who was more aggressive in the partnership, edged one to the wicketkeeper while batting at 40 off 32 balls with 8 boundaries. While captain Poddar couldn’t contribute much and got out for 16 runs, the third wicket partnership between opener Ranjit Singh Subhranshu Senapati is going strong, as they have added 81 runs already with Singh scoring a half-century. This partnership helped Odisha erase the deficit.
On the second day Rajasthan continued from 249 for 5 and were all out on 323 with debutant SF Khan scoring a century. For Odisha Surykant Pradhan and Govinda Poddar took 3 wickets apiece while Alok Mangaraj scalped two and Dheeraj Singh and Deepak Behera pocketed one wickets each.
