Bhubaneswar: With the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rain in the state for the next three days, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has cancelled the leaves of all of its employees tomorrow.
All the employees of the civic body will join duty on Sunday and remain alert for possible rain. Besides, the employees have been asked to keep the water pumps ready in low lying areas in the city which face waterlogging situation during rain.
The Met regional office predicated that a cyclonic circulation extending upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height lies over northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal -Odisha coasts.
Under its influence, a low pressure area is very likely to develop over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood during next 24 hours. Rain/ thundershowers is very likely to occur at many places over districts of Odisha during next 24 hours subsequent 48 hour, the Met office said.
During rain, water enters the houses of residents in low lying areas. The civic authority has taken precautionary measures to tackle the situation.
