Bhubaneswar: The Railways on Sunday conducted the trial run of a train engine on the newly constructed 12km stretch between Rajsunakhala and Bolagarh of 289 km long Khurda Road-Bolangir railway line project.
Earlier, a similar trial run of the engine was conducted on July 31 along the stretch. This is the second such trial on the route. After some puja rituals being performed at the site, the trial run was conducted by a railway team led by Chief Engineer (construction) Sankarshan Nayak at around 2:15 pm. East Coast Railway (ECoR) Chief Public Relations Officer JP Mishra said the Railways will submit an application before the commissioner of Railway Safety, an independent authority under ministry of civil aviation to inspect and certify the track. After his inspection and certification, the track will be declared fit for passenger traffic.
ECoR sources said they will run the passenger train in the new line very shortly and would inaugurate the station and flag off a passenger train to Bolagarh Road on the same day. Following this, railway will start work to connect Bolagarh Road with Nayagarh.
ECoR Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) SB Ninawe, Divisional Railway Manager of Khurda Road Debaraj Panda, Deputy Chief Engineer (Construction), SK Parida were also present on the occasion.
