Bhubaneswar: Sunday fun is all set to be back with Raahgiri 2 that will begin from November 27 again in the capital city. City residents can again flock to the Master Canteen to Ram Mandir Square stretch of Janpath to enjoy their Sunday mornings with a dose of sports, art, culture and fitness. Raahgiri will be hosted by Bhubaneswar Municiapl Corporation (BMC) and Bhubaneswar Smart City Purpose Vehicle (SPV) alongwith Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).
The first edition of Raahgiri, an initiative of the State government and city administration to connect to the city people for the Smart City Challenge, was quite a success with thousands gathering along the Janpath stretch and participating in activities of their interest. This time too, a number of sporting activities, cycling, cultural performances and other highlights will be a part of the weekly event, informed Mayor Anant Narayan Jena.
In a meeting on Friday between tourism minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Mayor Jena, Bhubaneswar North MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, BMC Commissioner and BDA vice chairman Krishan Kumar in presence of tourism and culture secretary Gagan Dhal and Tourism director Nitin Jawale, it was decided to revive Raahgiri again.
“We had temporarily stopped hosting Raahgiri owing to monsoon for two months. The second edition of the much popular event will begin this November 27. This time we will include new themes every week that were not covered in the first edition of Raahgiri,” said tourism and culture minister Panda at the Palm Court of Secretariat.
Raahgiri 2 will be hosted from 6 am to 10 am every Sunday starting November 27.
