Bhubaneswar: Lokanath Maharathy, president of Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (PYCC) on Tuesday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for non-declaration of Odisha as a Special Category State (SCS) status during his recent visit here.
He demanded an inquiry into “the mammoth expenditures spent for the lavish arrangements of the two-day BJP national executive meet in Bhubaneswar. While addressing a Press conference here Maharathy said, “Modi knows very well that there are large numbers of poor people in the state. Then why is the Centre hesitating to accord Special Category State status to Odisha?”
Maharathy demanded a probe into the sources of the enormous funds spent for the mega arrangements during the BJP national executive meeting. PYCC will hold a bike rally here on Wednesday to make people aware in this regard, he said.
He even alleged that the Centre is negligent towards resolving the Mahanadi water dispute between Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Both the Centre and Chhattisgarh government are unwilling to resolve the issue for their own political gains, he added.
