Puri: The Puri district judge today issued a notice inviting suggestions from public in the form of affidavits over management of Sri Jagannath Temple in the town. The last date for submitting affidavit is June 20.
The Supreme Court had on June 8 directed the lower court to submit a report by June 30 on factual aspects of difficulties faced by the visitors, exploitative practices, if any, and deficiencies in the management, if any, along with his suggestions.
Acting on a PIL filed by Mrinalini Padhi highlighting the problems faced by devotees, a Vacation Bench headed by Justice AK Goel had asked the Puri district judge for submission of the report.
The petitioner had highlighted the difficulties faced by visitors to Shri Jagannath Temple and their harassment and exploitation by servitors of the temple.
This year’s Rath Yatra is to take place on July 14.
