Pune: A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against a contractor and workers after a 40ft-high steel hoarding frame collapsed on Friday afternoon in Pune killing four and injuring nine others.
While two persons died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries on way to the Sassoon General Hospital after the accident.
The deceased, identified as Shyamrao Dhotre (48), and Bhimrao Kesar (70) died on the spot, while Javed Khan (45) and Shivaji Pardeshi (40), were declared dead on arrival at Sassoon General Hospital.
Milind Deouskar, Divisional Railway Manager of Pune declared ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the kin of those dead, Rs 1 lakh for seriously injured and Rs 50,000 for those who suffered minor injuries.
An inquiry has been ordered into the mishap, informed Deouskar.
Notably, the massive frame of an illegal hoarding collapsed on Friday at around 2 pm while being removed at Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk near Juna Bazaar in Pune.
A video that was captured showed several auto-rickshaws, cars, and motorbikes waiting at the intersection for the green signal when the metal frame fell on them.
