Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today said that the state government has set a target of having pucca (concrete) kitchens in each government-run school in Odisha by this year.
“Out of the 58,000 schools in the state, 16,000 are yet to have concrete kitchens. We intend to furnish these schools with pucca kitchens by December-end,” said Padhi while speaking to newsmen after chairing a review meeting in this regard at the state Secretariat.
We also have the resources for the construction, he added.
The government’s decision will definitely bring great relief to lakhs of school students, who consume their mid-day meals in schools. The concrete kitchens will ensure better hygiene.
