President Kovind pulls in 3.27 million Twitter followers on Day 1

New Delhi: On just the first day of his Presidency on Tuesday, Ram Nath Kovind gained as many as 3.27 million followers for his new Twitter account @rashtrapatibhvn.

The first tweet went out from that account as soon as Chief Justice of India JS Khehar administered the oath of office to Kovind.

Here’s what President Kovind’s first tweet said:

India’s 14th President Ram Nath Kovind took oath in Parliament’s Central Hall on Tuesday in a ceremony that was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all the lawmakers.

Once the oath taking was over, Kovind and Mukherjee exchanged seats on the dais after which the new president delivered his maiden speech as president.

A 21-gun salute was also fired in honour of the new president.
