Bhadrak: A postmaster was suspended today after it was found that he had not delivered any letters and parcels in the last 12 years of his service in Odanga sub-post office in Bhadrak district.
The postmaster, identified as Jagannath Puhan has been charged with consciously violating his service norms for 12 years.
A few locals somehow came to know that Puhan had not despatched letters and parcels since 2007 and had piled them up in his office and informed the same to the Bhadrak superintendent of Posts. Following this, an inquiry was initiated into the allegation.
“We have suspended Puhan from his duties with immediate effect after he pleaded guilty for dereliction in his duty,” superintendent of Posts Sarbeswar Mishra said adding, that the issue will be taken up to the higher authorities to initiate disciplinary actions against Puhan.
Meanwhile, the distribution of letters and parcels is now assigned to the current postmaster.
