Bhubaneswar: Acting on a tip-off, Mayurbhanj Police today raided Salia sahi slum in Nayapalli and seized a fake currency printing unit in the Smart City. Police stormed in the house where the unlawful printing unit was operated.
Spurious currency papers, color printer and cartridges were seized by the cops.
This incident followed after a college student Shogen Murmu in possession of counterfeit notes who was allegedly trying to circulate them apprehended by Mayurbhanj Police March 9. As many as 32 fake currency notes were recovered from his possession.
During interrogation, the nabbed student disclosed that he got the fake notes from a friend who is a resident of Patia here and on further questioning, the accused escorted police to the hideout at Saliasahi where the illegal printing unit was functioning.
