Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Commissionerate Police announces its new action plan for women’s safety to install 3000 CCTV cameras and new PCR van patrolling system around Twin City.
Temples, shopping malls, ladies hostels, colleges and other sensitive areas will be kept under surveillance and separate PCR vans manned by 8 police personnel including 4 women cadres will be deployed at respective stations to conduct frequent patrolling, said Commissioner of Police YB Khurania.
A budget of Rs 135.35 crore from ‘Nirbhaya’ Fund has been earmarked and the union government’s fund releasing approval is awaited for executing the mechanism.
In this agenda, a ‘Shakti unit’ will be formed in each Police station to look after women’s safety.
However the most ambitious project Pink auto and ‘MO SATHI’ failed miserably; the new action plan is expected to reduce the crime rate against women.
