Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, Commissionerate police today arrested the mastermind of the fake currency racket that was recently busted at Salia Sahi slum in the capital city.
On a tip-off, police nabbed the accused, Rajkishore Tudu at Bhubaneswar Railway Station while he arrived from Chennai. Since the racked was busted by police, Tudu had escaped to Tamil Nadu.
Certain materials used for making counterfeit notes had been seized by police last week while raiding a house in the state’s biggest slum.
Earlier, Ratnakar Singh alias Daka from Salia Sahi, was nabbed on the basis of a tip-off just two days after busting the fake note printing unit in Bhubaneswar.
An ACP ranked officer headed the team formed by Commissionerate Police to nab the accused, Daka, who hails from Betanati block in Mayurbhanj district in connection with fake currency notes seizure.
In connection with the fake note racket, a college student Shogen Murmu was arrested in possession of counterfeit notes who was allegedly trying to circulate them apprehended by Mayurbhanj Police on March 9. As many as 32 fake currency notes were recovered from his possession.
