New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asked BJP MPs and MLAs to submit their bank transaction details between November 8 and December 31 to party President Amit Shah by January 1, 2017.
The PM’s instructions at a BJP Parliamentary meeting on Tuesday came following the allegations by opposition parties that the BJP had tipped off some of its own leaders ahead of the demonetisation announcement. Earlier, over demonetisation Rahul Gandhi had alleged that even Finance Minister Arun Jaitley didn’t know about the notes ban.
There have been several interruptions and adjournments so far in both houses of Parliament over demonetisation. Opposition parties had also called for a bandh in form of Jan Aakrosh Divas to show resentment against the demonetisation move of Modi. Earlier, over 200 members of Parliament had staged a demonstration outside the House for the same reason.
The PM not only asked party members to give transaction details but also justified the Income Tax Amendment bill discussed on Monday as a fight against black money and for the welfare of the poor.
