Bhubaneswar: Cashless transactions get a major thrust after Point of Sales (PoS) machines were installed at about 857 petrol pumps across state which will making electronic transactions in petroleum sector hassle free.
Kick starting the process Union PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said awareness regarding cashless transactions post the demonetisation will be subsequently spread to all corners of the state and the country.
Out of 1465 petrol pumps 857 ones have been equipped with Point of Sales (PoS) where people can easily get their fuel by paying electronically through PoS.
Different governmental and NGOs providing E-wallet services will make people aware about the benefits of getting cashless, the minister said.
Within few days the amount of cashless transactions in petroleum and natural gas sector has increased from 10 to 30 per cent, the minister said.
The Centre has announced a subsidy of 0.75 per cent per litre of petrol and diesel when brought through e-wallet. As a result petrol and diesel will get cheaper by Rs 0.48 and 0.41 respectively.
Meanwhile, more amount of Rs 500 notes will be made available in the state from today onwards.
