Dhenkanal: Tension prevailed at Dhenkanal District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) on Sunday as a patient died due to delay in treatment because of the alleged dispute between two doctors overtaking the treatment charge.
The deceased hailed from Gandia Gundurapasahi village in the district.
Reportedly, the patient was admitted to the DHH after he complained of severe chest pain. Initially, he was treated by a doctor who later referred the case to another doctor.
Following this, the two doctors entered into a verbal duel over who would treat the patient as both of them were allegedly unwilling to take charge. However, the patient had died before the doctors could arrive to a conclusion.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s family members claimed that delay in treatment caused by the unending quarrel between the doctors resulted in the patient’s death.
The incident triggered tension in the hospital and the deceased’s family members along with the locals accused the doctors of negligence and unprofessionalism.
They also demanded strict actions against the doctors-duo responsible for the death of the patient.
According to available information, the hospital authorities have sought answers from the accused doctors over the issue and allegations levelled against them.
