Bhubaneswar: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Crime Branch probing into the mysterious Parala suicide row has carried out its third phase of its investigation.
SIT Officials for the second day questioned the sister and nephew of dead Ananga Manjari Patra, the chief manager of the royal palace of King Gajapati Narayan Deo. Earlier on Wednesday crime branch officials interrogated two sisters of Ananga and their husbands.
It had carried out its second phase of investigation on September 19.
Notably, Ananga along with her two brothers Sanjay and Santosh Patra and sister Bijaylaxmi were found dead under mysterious condition at their home in Paralakhemundi on August 21 after locals sniffed foul odour emanating from their house at Jangama sahi.
Ananga who was the Chief Manager and caretaker of the King along with her brothers were accused of forcibly subjugating the King to house arrest in spite of health ailments besides misappropriation of royal properties.
Somehow the issue came to limelight after it live wired on a local media channel. Subsequently, after the intervention of district administration inspection was carried out and the King was sent to Chennai based Apollo Hospital on August 15 where he is still undergoing recuperation from several health complications like leg fracture, chest infection.
With increasing allegations of misappropriation of royal properties, and torture to king, pressure was increasingly overwhelming over the Patra family. As the public outcry took violent proportions Ananga and her brothers tendered resignation from their service to royal family.
They were found dead under mysterious condition in their locked house on August 21.
Chief Minister ordered a crime branch enquiry into their death cases and illegal financial misappropriations into royal properties.
