Cuttack: Police today conducted raid at industrialist Mahimananda Mishra’s Orissa Stevedores Limited (OSL) office in Paradip and Cuttack. Police also froze accounts of OSL and top officials of the stevedoring company on Thursday. The move comes after over a fortnight of the murder of Seaways Shipping and Logistics Limited (SSLL) manager Mahendra Swain on October 26.
The Paradip police today conducted the raids at the local OSL office while a six member team of Jagatsinghpur police raided the Cuttack OSL office during the investigation of the murder case. Police also raided OSL general manager Basant Bal’s house alongwith other officials named in the FIR lodged by Mahendra’s brother on the day he was shot.
“We have already frozen OSL’s account as well as accounts of some main officials like Basant Bal,” said a police officer.
Police had also issued a look out circular for Mahima Mishra on November 5. Time is fast running out for Mahima Mishra and others named in the FIR since as per the lookout notice they had to surrender within 15 days. The option of getting anticipatory bail is also low as there are pending applications and a slot might not be available before 30 to 40 days after applying.
Earlier, Mahendra was shot near Ambedkar Bhawan at Madhuban colony in Paradip by two miscreants. The shooters first hurled two crude bombs at his SUV and then fired at him. During investigation police had also found a letter wherein Mahendra had mentioned that Mishra and Bal were threatening him.
