Bhubaneswar : Police on Friday issued a look out circular against Congress leader Bapi Sarkhel for allegedly having link with the prime accused, Rakesh Choubey in connection with the murder of Seaways Shipping General Manager, Mahandra Swain earlier on October 26.
Jagatsinghpur SP Jay Narayan Pankaj said that based on the information provided by Rakesh, who was arrested on Thursday, local police conducted raid at Sarkhel’s office and two other places. Some important documents were seized during the raids. Rakesh being the prime accused in the murder case, others arrested include Riyasat Hussain, Mohammed Samim, Siba and Manoj Gochhayat.
All the five arrested have been sent to Kujanga jail today after rejection of their bail pleas in the High Court.
Sarkhel on the other hand has rejected such allegations by the police. He said he had a discussion with the SP regarding the look out circular issued against him. “I’m a labour union leader and keep busy in political work. my name has been dragged in this case though I don’t run a stevedoring company at the port,” he said.
