Bhubaneswar: The committee on the Legislative Council (Vidhan Parishad) on Wednesday returned to Odisha after studying the functioning of the Legislative Councils in Telangana and Bihar.
The review report will soon be submitted to the state government, said transport and commerce minister and head of the penal Nrusingha Sahoo.
The special team led by Nrusingha Sahoo was formed by the state government to study the functioning of the legislative council in other states amid demands for a Vidhan Parishad in Odisha. The team visited Telangana and Bihar and reviewed the functioning of their Legislative Councils.
Earlier, the committee had visited Maharashtra and Karnataka to learn about the way of formation and functioning of Legislative Councils.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had formed a committee in keeping view for the purpose of the formation Legislative Council in Odisha.
