Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Thursday extended the interim relief of tainted IAS officer and former managing director of Orissa Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC), Binod Kumar, and three others till July 27.
Taking up the case, Justice Jatindra Prasad Das posted the next hearing of the case to July 27.
According to the case details, Binod Kumar and five others were convicted by the Special Vigilance Court on July 3 in connection with ORHDC scam and sentenced to three years of imprisonment.
The six are convicted for their involvement in financial irregularities to the tune of Rs 55 lakh in the construction of cyclone shelters after the Super Cyclone in October 1999.
However, during the pronouncement of the verdict the accused persons were absent in the court following which non-bailable warrants were issued against them.
The HC had granted interim relief to Kumar and three others by ordering a stay on the Vigilance Court’s order. The Court had also asked the police not to arrest them until the further hearing of the case.
