Opposition objects making college chairman of BJD leaders who lost elections


Bhubaneswar: The Assembly saw pandemonium today with Opposition leaders objecting to BJD leaders who lost in last Assembly elections becoming college committee chairman. Both BJP and Congress leaders raised the issue.

Congress legislator Chiranjib Biswal raised the issue first seeking explanation on why elected legislators are not members of college executive committee chairman whereas leaders who had lost in Assembly elections have been given these positions.

Higher Education minister Pradeep Panigrahi said there are rules regarding the selection of college executive committee members based on which the chairmen have been elected.

However, the BJP and Congress leaders said they were not content with the minister’s explanation and created an uproar over the issue.
