Bhubaneswar: State’s first gems and jewellery industrial park is going to be set up at Ramdaspur in Cuttack at a cost of about Rs. 685 crore.
The project which will be spread over a period of seven years will be the maiden private industrial park of the state. It was granted approval by the Chief Secretary AP Padhi during a state level committee meeting here on Thursday.
Some of the propositions to be placed in the park included gemstones, diamond cutting and polishing, manufacturing of gold, silver, platinum and diamond jewellery, fashion jewellery, lifestyle products.
Noted jewellery manufacturer like Gitanjali Gems limited with its other sponsor and associate companies like ASMI, Nakshatra, Sangini, GILI, Nirvana, Valente will set up their stores in the park.
The project with an estimated cost of about Rs. 685 crore will be invested in three phases. The park will be set up across an area of 100 acre and enabled with 300 MW power. Similarly it would consume about 300 cubic meter of water on a diurnal basis.
With the industrial park coming into effect it will enable 16,000 people opportunities for jobs. The Project approval committee asked a detailed DPR to be submitted within six months.
