Bhubaneswar: In the wake of Bharat bandh observation by various groups across the country, the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) postponed its semester exams were scheduled on Tuesday.
According to sources at BPUT, exams on 55 different subjects were to be held at 88 centres across the state today. Following Bharat bandh by several groups to protest caste-based reservation, the university administration called the examinations.
The postponed exams will be conducted between April 12 and April 20, added the sources.
This is the second time that the BPUT authorities cancelled the semester exams this month. Earlier BPUT had postponed the examination as Dalit outfits had observed Bharat bandh on April 2. They had called the bandh protesting dilution of provisions under the Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
