Bhubaneswar: As per an order by the Personnel Ministry, Bibhu Prasad Kanungo of Odisha has been appointed as Deputy Governor in Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for three years. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment to the post with effect from the date of taking over the charge on or after April 3.He would replace R Gandhi.
Earlier, during last year March, Kanungo was appointed as executive director in the central bank.
As per sources, Kanungo will have a 3-year term. He has been earlier the RBI’s regional director in Jaipur and Kolkata and the banking intermediary for Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. With a post graduation degree in Arts, Kanungo is Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers and also holds a degree in Law (LLB) from Utkal University.
