Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to auction 17 to 18 mines this year, said Union Secretary for Mines Anil Mukim during his visit to the state on Friday.
After meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the state secretariat in Bhubaneswar today, Mukim told the mediapersons that the Odisha government’s District Minerals Fund (DMF) stands at Rs 5,000 crore.
Mukim held a discussion with Patnaik about the auction of mines and described the meeting a courtesy call. Mukim described Odisha as the mining capital of India. He was with NALCO CMD Tapan Kumar Chand.
According to sources, Mukim requested the state government to expedite the process for the auction of the mines particularly those mines whose lease period is going to be expired soon.
