Bhubaneswar: Even after enforcing follow-on on Goa, Odisha under-23 team couldn’t materialise a victory in this plate league match of the CK Nayudu Trophy played at Gandhi Stadium in Bolangir. The visiting team managed to salvage a draw and get one point while the host team had to be content with 3 points.
Even the draw did not help to bring joy to the teams as both of them were languishing at the bottom of the points table and after this match their positions remained unchanged.
Odisha managed to get 5 points after five matches with two losses and three draws while Goa got its first point of the season with this draw and is placed at the bottom of the table. It had lost all its four previous matches.
On the fourth day of the match Goa continued to bat from the overnight score of 27 without losing any wicket. Till the end Goa was batting on 239 with the loss of 4 wickets with opener Infancio scoring a half-century and middle order batsman Srinivas Fadte remaining unbeaten on 62. For Odisha Abhijit Ghana took two wickets while Shantanu Mishra and Debabrata pradhan bagged one wicket each.
Earlier, Odisha had scored 561 for 8 with one century each from Shantanu Mishra, Devendra Kunwar and Prateek Das before declaring their first innings. But Goa could make only 257 in their first innings and were asked to follow-on.
