Cuttack: The Odisha High Court on Thursday gave its nod to conduct the special and second OJEE to fill up the huge vacancies of B Tech and MCA seats in both government and private engineering colleges, as nearly 94 percent seats lie vacant even after completion of first phase of admissions. The fake placement issue has affected the admissions, believes Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA).
According to reports, the State government has been asked to issue the notification for the examination by August 5 and complete the entire admission process by August 14.
Second OJEE is now being held every year in Odisha for the last three years which indicates lack of quality education as well, as per experts.
Out of the total 43,000 seats in 88 private and 8 government colleges, only 8,151 seats have been allotted in the engineering colleges so far. There have been no takers for the BTech courses in at least eight colleges this time.
