Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government is all set to initiate construction of road projects spanning 6000 kms and repair work of 5000 roads in 2017-18 fiscal under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for providing connectivity to rural areas.
An amount of Rs 300 crore has been proposed to invest in the road repairing work.
The State Rural Development Minister Badrinarayan Patra has placed proposal for allocating Rs 7373.85 crore in the House for the coming fiscal in the budget session for carrying out its various developmental projects.
Rs 2300 crore has been allocated for constructing new road projects under PMGSY and the allocation amount for Biju Setu (Brigde project) is Rs 500 crore, while Rs 2100.5 crore entails investment for distribution of safe drinking water in the investment outlay, said Odisha Rural Development Minister Badrinarayan Patra.
The Minister further added the invest outlay also includes establishment of 10000 tube wells, 400 overhead tanks, one thousand drinking water-based distribution solar projects and 500 other special projects in the financial year 2017-18.
