Bhubaneswar: In a significant move, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi on Thursday took a review of the projects at State Facilitation Committee meeting held under his chairmanship at the State Secretariat and directed to fast-track the mines auctioned recently.

Padhi directed the concerned departments to expedite the process for issue of various clearances and approvals for starting mining operations and set timelines for completion of the tasks by the departments like Revenue & Disaster Management, Forest & Environment, Steel & Mines and the State Pollution Control Board. The district Collector and Divisional Forest Officers were also asked to facilitate the process on a war-footing.

Padhi further advised the Steel & Mines Department to step up preparations for auction of more mines in coming months.

The progress of five mining lease projects was reviewed. These included Ghoraburhani-Sagasahi iron ore block of Sundargarh district, Kottametta limestone block in Malkangiri district, Laserda-Pacheri manganese ore block in Keonjhar district, Kalamanga west iron block in Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts and Netrabandha iron block of Sundargarh district.
