Odia language in Google’s interface soon

Bhubaneswar:  The process to include Odia language to the world’s best search engine- Google will start soon, informed the chairperson of Virtual Academy R. Balakrishna in a meeting with Development Commissioner here at the sate Secretariat on Thursday.

The initiative to add regional language Odia to Google’s interface would enable Odia people as well as others across the globe to search and read information in Odia language, Balakrishna said.

It is learnt that in order to promote the Odia language, the state government has registered in the Virtual Academy to channelise the process. Around 2000 Odia books will be digitalised in order to make it accessible in the digital form.

Similarly, the Chicago University will be requested to provide information about historical events of Odisha from a period of 1901 to 1937 for the digital archive.

According to the Virtual Academy chairperson, poems, novels and various literary work of legendary Odia writers like Radhanath Ray, Gangadhar Meher, and Fakir Mohan Senapati will also be converted into digital form and placed in the Google search library.
