New Delhi: Odia artist Sitaram Swain has been chosen as the Glenfiddich’s ‘Emerging Artist of the Year 2017’. Swain, the sixth recipient of this award will represent India at the Glenfiddich Artists in Residence (AiR) programme.
Moreover, he will spend three months at the Glenfiddich Distillery in Scotland with seven other artists chosen from around the globe.
However, Swain stood out through his art by portraying social issues through household objects and unique concepts. The talented artist believes that there is a serene feature of social relevance in domestic objects.
I am extremely exalted for getting selected as the winner of India for Glenfiddich Air programme and this is off course for me, will be a great opportunity to explore and broaden my creativity.
The artist also bags Rs 10 lakh, which includes an international allowance of Rs 1.2 lakh per month and a work allowance of Rs 50, 000, besides being offered a solo show at Bestcollegeart.Com Gallery here.
