NRI robbed of cash, valuables outside Bhubaneswar airport

Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants snatched away cash and other valuables from a non-resident Indian (NRI) outside the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here on Tuesday.

The victim, identified as Neeraj Chand, lodged a complaint with the Airfield police in this regard.

In his complaint, Chand, who lives in Ghana, said the miscreants snatched away his bag containing cash and other valuables when he and his family members were waiting outside the airport. Although the snatching act was captured in a CCTV camera installed near the airport, the accused were yet to be identified.

The bag contained 30,000 dollar, a costly cellphone and other important documents. Chand had also kept the passports of his wife and son which were also taken by the robbers, he said.

Chand was about to travel to Puri when the incident took place.

Meanwhile, the police have started an investigation into the matter and assured the family that efforts are on to get back their stolen valuables.
