Bargarh:The Mahaprayan scheme announced by the State government is getting nowhere in Bargarh district as it has completely failed.

The dead body of Basudev Meher, a resident of Bijepur under Bargarh district was carried on a trolley rickshaw due to the unavailability of hearse service. There is only one hearse available in the whole Bargarh city due to which the poor people are suffering a lot in the complete district.

As per the reports, the announcement to provide the Mahaprayan vehicle under Mahaprayan scheme after the Dana Majhi incident wherein he carried his wife’s dead body on his shoulder till 13 kms. Even after this nothing seems to work out so far.

The Mahaprayan scheme is meant for poor people who cannot afford to hire private vehicle. But people are still carrying the dead bodies either on cycle or on a trolley rickshaw and are deprived of getting a hearse in Bargarh district. At least, a hearse per block should be provided in order to get the Mahaprayan scheme on track.
