Bhubaneswar: Orissa High court on Tuesday ordered State Government not to take any coercive actions against absconding Puri servitor Jayakrushna Mahasuar accused of misdemeanor to Puri Collector, media persons and on charges of delaying Niladri Bije ritual of Lord Jagannath earlier this July during Rath Yatra.
The apex court in the State also asked the servitor to file an affidavit that he would not indulge in any such offences in future.
Notably, Jayakrushna who is still to be traced by police has been declared absconder by Puri district police on August 26 after he failed to appear before the police on the case.
It is to be noted that Jayakrushna was alleged of misconduct towards Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal and manhandling some other media persons during Niladri Bije ritual earlier this year.
Mahasuar allegedly protested Collector’s intervention in objecting the daughter of Damodar Mahasuar, from climbing the chariots and touching deities during Niladri Bije ritual of Lord Jagannath. Notably, there is a no-touch ban on chariots and deities during the whole Rath Yatra period.
During an altercation Mahasuar along with other servitors also tussled with some other media persons leading to delay in the pahandi of Lord Sudarsan and subsequently in Niladri Bije ritual by some hours.
