New Delhi: NDTV India on Monday moved the Supreme Court challenging one-day ban order of its Hindi channel imposed by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
NDTV has been ordered off-air on November 9 for broadcasting secret and sensitive details of terrorist attack on Pathankot Airbase in January earlier this year.
The ban has been publicly condemned by all sections of people across the country with media organizations criticizing the decision saying it looked as if to curb freedom of speech like during the times of emergency.
When every news organizations have broadcasted the same news, then why NDTV has only been singled out, it said.
Notably, Earlier on Sunday the two other channels News Time Assam and Care World TV were also directed to shut out their broadcast with the former getting a one day ban on November 9 while the latter has been imposed with a week ban starting from November 9.
