Naveen requests Centre to name Jharsuguda Airport after Veer Surendra Sai

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged Union Government to name Jharsuguda Airport after freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai.

In a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Naveen mentioned that there is a public demand for naming the Jharsuguda Airport in the name of renowned freedom fighter of Odisha Veer Surendra Sai, who hails from the same locality.

“Naming the airport in his name will be a fitting tribute to the legendary son of the soil,” he added.

The Chief Minister urged the airport should be named as ‘Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Jharsuguda.’

Jharsuguda is one of the five airports in Odisha selected to provide regional flight connectivity under the Centre’s flagship Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) scheme.
