Cuttack: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the State Maritime Museum at Jobra in the silver city here that has now been endowed with a state-of-the-art 4D-SFX theatre.
According to sources, the 48-seated 4D theatre hall is first of its kind in the State and the proposal was raised by the museum officials in 2014.
The theater will display shows having duration 10-minute each starting from 10.30 am. CM Patnaik launched the theatre and became the first viewer of the 4D show.
The major specification of the show is that the viewers can feel scorching sunrays, rain, wind and smoke. The viewers have to pay Rs 60 each for fetching tickets with an additional deposit of Rs 50 for a special spec which is refundable after returning the same at the counter.
However, it was a navigational workshop established by the Britishers which was renovated in to museum after the foundation stone was laid in 2007.
The State Maritime Museum, built with an estimated cost of Rs 2.2 crore, has emerged as a major tourist attraction in Cuttack.
Comprising of 10 galleries, the museum showcases the rich maritime history of Odisha, erstwhile Kalinga. Besides, it has a special aquarium of over 60 aquatic species that was inaugurated on August 21, 2014
