Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated the much-awaited Pokhariput over-bridge, which would connect Pokhariput, Jagamara with Sundarpada, Bhimtangi and Old Town.
MP Prasanna Patasani, culture minister Ashok Chandra Panda, MLA Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, public works department secretary Nalinikanta Pradhan and BMC corporators were present.
The 653-metre rail over-bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs 32.55 crore. The construction work of the over-bridge was started in 2012 and completed in the first week of August this year. Panda Infra executed the project.
The bridge was scheduled to be completed in 2014. However, several issues like land acquisition and encroachment led to delay in its completion. After the settlement of all legal issues in 2017, construction work had resumed.
