Jharsuguda: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated Rourkela-Jharsuguda-Sambalpur stretch of the Biju Expressway to the people of Odisha in a function at Panchapada High School ground here.
According to official sources, the 163-km long road has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1200 crores.
The construction work of the Biju Expressway has been completed between Sambalpur and Rourkela. Later, the project will connect four districts of western Odisha like Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh with four KBK (Kalahandi-Balangir-Koraput) districts namely Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada.
The Biju Expressway project aims at connecting western and southern Odisha. The four lane road having a total length of 650 km will connect Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Koraput.
The state government has allocated Rs 3200 crore for the purpose.
