Naveen condoles Pyari’s death; BJD ministers pay tribute at airport


Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has condoled the death of his former political adviser and veteran bureaucrat turned politician Pyari Mohan Mohapatra who passed away Sunday last evening. Meanwhile, BJD ministers and leaders paid tributes to Mohapatra when his dead body reached the Biju Patnaik Airport from Mumbai via cargo.

The dead body of Mohapatra reached the airport at 1.30 pm where his family members and politicians of Odisha Jana Morcha and various other parties were waiting to pay him a last visit. Ministers Debi Prasad Mishra, Usha Devi, Pradeep Amat and Surya Narayan Patro of BJD were present at the airport. Amat and Patro will also be present at the funeral to be conducted at Satya Nagar after the body is carried in a procession to his Shahid Nagar house. The leader passed away at Mumbai’s Hinduja hospital.

CM Patnaik also expressed grief in his condolence message. “I am distressed at the passing away of former MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra. He had a distinguished career as a civil servant and was known for his hard work and caliber. Later he came to politics and became and MP. In politics too he proved his mettle. Through his organisational skills and political acumen he had created a niche for himself in Odisha politics,” he said.

Patnaik also expressed the same on his Twitter handle.
