Bhubaneswar: Naveen Patnaik expressed his condolence over Jayalalithaa’s demise saying that he is deeply shocked at the passing away of the chief minister.With the entire country mourning for Jayalalithaa, the state is also witnessing the grief of the sudden demise of the legendary politician. The state assembly observed a one minute silence prayer for the departed soul and has been further adjourned till tomorrow lamenting the incident.
“She was the leader of the masses and had made immense contribution to the development and welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu. She enjoyed a huge mandate and was known for her administrative caliber and political sagacity. She was the iron lady of Tamil Nadu who successfully steered the state on the path of progress and prosperity,” said Patnaik.
She was widely referred as ‘Amma’ by the people of Tamil Nadu. Expressing her death as a national loss, Patnaik stated that she had special relationship with Odisha and its people.
“Jayalalithaa Ji had a special relationship with Odisha and the people of Odisha. She had always stiid by us in good and bad times. She had been a great admirer of Biju Babu and had always displayed her reverence for him. During the times of natural calamity she had been very helpful to us,” said the CM.
She had been a great admirer of late Biju Pattnaik and always displayed her reverence for him. During a visit of Patnaik to Chennai during 2012 she had said that Biju Pattnaik was like a father figure to her and Naveen Pattnaik was like her brother.
Similarly, other leaders including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, MP Baijayant Panda, MLA Akash Das have also expressed their grief over the incident.
As per sources, Pattnaik was likely to leave for Chennai at around 11:45 am to attend for the funeral ceremony of ‘Amma’
