Nandankanan Zoological Park to get giraffe, zebra


Bhubaneswar: The Nandankanan Zoological Park will bring a giraffe from Karnataka’s Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden in Mysuru in an animal exchange programme.

Nandankanan Zoo director Sisir Kumar Acharya said that the Zoo authorities will bring a giraffe from Mysuru Zoo and will deport chimpanzee Purnima and its baby as part of the animal exchange programme.

The zoo authorities have written to the Central Zoo authorities in this regard, he added.

The authorities are also mulling over getting a zebra as the lone zebra in the zoo dies on September 24.
