Bhubaneswar: The Kendrapara Sub-Collector and SDPO recorded their statements before Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central range AB Ota on Thursday completing the statement recording on the alleged police excess case against anti-liqour activists on March 8 last year at Namtara in Kendrapara.
Earlier, SP Satish Gajbhiye and Kendrapara Collector had already presented their statements before the RDC last month while at least 50 witnesses and victims have already kept their views on the case.
The RDC is likely to submit the final inquiry report by this month end, sources said.
Notably, on March 8 last year, in a braze display of police excesses firing was opened on dozens of anti-liqour campaigners at Namtara village under Rajkanika block in Kendrapara severely injuring 9 persons including women and kids. The situation spiraled out of control as the agitated mob ransacked the liquor shop and clashed with police officials.
The case raised state wide public outcry leading Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to suspend SP Gajbhiye ordering a RDC level probe into the incident. But after a 15 month long delay, inquiry started into the incident only on August 25 this year.
