Bhubaneswar: While Twin City Cuttack and Bhubaneswar has been receiving rainfall since morning under the influence of the advancing monsoon, the southwest monsoon will intensify and lash many parts of Odisha with heavy rainfall in districts like Puri, Khurda and Ganjam in the next 24 hours, said regional meteorological centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Tuesday.
Latest Doppler radar indicates that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and heavy rainfall is likely to occur over the above districts, a Met bulletin said.
Rain is likely at most places over north coastal and many places over interior and coastal Odisha in next 24 hours, , informed weathermen.
The weathermen also informed that the southwest monsoon has already covered most parts of the state and remaining parts are likely to be covered by the monsoon within the next 24 hours.
The overall rainfall activity over the state is also expected to increase in a day or two.
