Bhubaneswar: Amid tight security in and around the temple premises, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi today visited the Lingaraj temple and offered prayers to the deities at the 11th century shrine in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, Modi spent around 25 minutes in the temple and offered bel leaves, flowers, milk, coconut water to the deity. He also paid obeisance to Goddess Bhubaneswari and Parbati.
After having darshan of the deities at Lingaraj temple, Modi waved at the crowd standing behind the barricades. Later he left for Janata Maidan, where the BJP’s two-day National Executive Meet 2017 is on.
Earlier in the day, Modi felicitated the family members of 16 paika mutiny martyrs and honored them at the Raj Bhawan here.
