Bhubaneswar: Passengers commuting through the State are likely to experience severe inconvenience with at least 32 passenger trains rescheduled or either cancelled between June 15 and 23 due to modernization work.
The commissioning of double line between Chudangagarh and Barang stations and the third line between Bhubaneswar New and Mancheswar stations have compelled the ECoR authorities to go in for cancellation, rescheduling and short-termination of trains.
Eight of the trains are either Mail or Express and connect destinations such as Bangiriposhi, Digha, Santragachi, Paradip and Bhubaneswar cancelled. Another 16 passenger trains operating to Rourkela, Puri, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Khurda Road, Kharagpur, Santragachi, Palasa, Visakhapatnam, Bhadrak, Sambalpuir, Koraput, Lanjigarh, Titlagarh and Raipur have been cancelled. Similarly, another set of eight trains have been cancelled.
Meanwhile, Dhanbad-Alleppey-Dhanbad Express has been diverted via Dhanbad-Gomoh-Chandrapur after Coal Ministry’s decision to stop operations in the region due to Jharia Coalfields fire. The Railway Board has diverted seven trains and cancelled 13 Mail and Express apart from six passenger trains in this regard. Similarly, the Dhanbad-Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad Garib Rath Express will remain cancelled from June 16 till further orders.
