Bhadrak: Internet services were restored in Bhadrak town of Odisha today, two days after suspension of the service in view of apprehensions of law and order problems during Ram Navami celebrations.
Internet service providers were asked to stop their services for 48 hours starting from 6 pm on Saturday so that rumour mongers cannot operate social media platforms in creating communal tension during the annual Hindu festival which is being celebrated here with gaiety and fervor.
As many as 50 platoons of police personnel were deployed in the town for the smooth conduct of the festival.
Bhadrak Superintendent of Police Anup Sahu informed to the media saying the annual Hindu festival passed off smoothly.
Notably, riot between Hindus and Muslims erupted in the town during the Sankirtan procession on the occasion of Ram Navami in April last year following derogatory remarks against Hindu gods being posted on social media.
